Use the CD provided in your installation kit and see SBC Support for more information. Or, do it manually using the following as the PPPoE login Username: sbcyahooreg@sbcglobal.net Password: sbcyahooreg And go to the following URL to complete registration http://helpme.att.net/register If you are an existing customer, that is NOT the address you should use to migrate. See this FAQ for instructions on how to migrate.
New information as of May 2007:
For help registering with Vista: »att.net/vista
If an att.net domain is desired for userid/email register here: »helpme.att.net/register

First off, if you are an Ameritech customer, you should NOT do the SBC Yahoo migration at this time! SBC will notify you via email and/or postal mail when Ameritech customers are eligible (expected to be sometime in January).
For all other SBC regions: Go to http://promo.sbcglobal.net/sbcyahoodsl/ and click the Upgrade Now button. See this FAQ for more information on merging a Yahoo ID during this process.
If you have sub-accounts, you'll want to migrate them too. Log into My Account. Your sub-accounts may be listed along with an Upgrade Sub-Acct link. This link will take you through a process similar to the one for your primary account (but shorter, as there's no billing information involved).
If this doesn't work, go to http://sbc.yahoo.com and log in using each sub-account's address and password and you'll be taken through the migration process. In either case, this only needs to be done once per sub-account.
The migration process will automatically change the primary account's Outlook Express and/or Netscape email settings (for Windows), but settings may need to be changed manually for Mac, subaccounts, or alternate mail applications. See a full list of the appropriate mail server settings.

Migration is not mandatory at this time. According to SBC, if you do not upgrade your account to SBC Yahoo! DSL, you will still have your high-speed Internet connection, but you will eventually lose your SBC home page and portal.
With that in mind, if any of the following features interest you, you may want to consider the account migration, which does not require installing any software and will not require you to change your email address(es).
•New Yahoo-provided homepage (dsl.sbc.yahoo.com) •Merge an existing Yahoo ID and @yahoo.com address with your SBC account (if you want) •Free unlimited nationwide dial access •Three free Consumer Reports guides •110MB of storage for photos and/or files ("briefcase") •Extra mailboxes become full featured sub accounts (with separate homepage customizations, dialup access, etc) •Forwarding feature allows you to use mailboxes as aliases •Web access to mail from mail.yahoo.com •Increased mail storage (25MB for primary, 10MB for extra boxes) •Spam filtering (can be done automatically, or by adding headers for your mail client to recognize) •Extra features you can pick include even more online storage, Yahoo games, bill payments, finance reports, and an Encyclopaedia Britannica subscription
After upgrading, you have the option to download a custom browser for Windows which includes a firewall and parental controls. You can also place a request for a CD to be mailed to you in early 2003, which has the custom browser and a connection manager (helps troubleshoot problems) for both Windows and Mac.

You should be aware that SBC Yahoo accounts only get ad-supported Geocities web space, just like everyone else's free accounts. If you enable the web space provided with your existing account before migration, you'll continue to have access to that web space (ad free) as an alternative to Geocities. Unfortunately, pacbell, nvbell, and swbell.net accounts it appears can no longer do this. Otherwise go to http://ameritech.net http://php2.snet.net http://pages.sbcglobal.net as appropriate, according to your email address and activate your personal home page if you aren't using it already. Put some sort of a placeholder file there to make sure your web space isn't considered empty or inactive.

By merging your new SBC Yahoo! ID with your existing Yahoo! ID, you are able to get new levels of storage in your existing Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Briefcase, and Yahoo! Photos. You also combine your @yahoo.com and SBC email addresses into one mailbox that you can download or view all at once.
If you do not merge your existing Yahoo ID, you can access the expanded Mail, Briefcase, and Photos storage by using your SBC ID to log into Yahoo, but these services will not be combined with your existing Yahoo mail account and briefcase.
Please note: If you map your existing Yahoo! account to your SBC Yahoo! account and then cancel your SBC Yahoo! service in the future, there will be a maintenance fee to retain your existing Yahoo! ID. You will be charged a maintenance fee of $9.95 per month to retain your existing Yahoo! ID and preserve your mail, addresses, calendar items, and personalized services. If you cancel your SBC Yahoo! service and do not wish to pay the maintenance fee, your data will be deleted or you may transfer some of your existing data to a new Yahoo! account with a different Yahoo ID.
If you decide to transfer your personal settings to a new Yahoo! ID, Yahoo! will give you step by step instructions automatically.
Also be aware that you can only merge a Yahoo ID while registering/migrating your primary account, or creating/migrating a subaccount. You can't change your mind or unmerge, so choose carefully.
Go here for merge information: help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/install/...
If you choose to merge: You can sign onto Yahoo using your full SBC email address, or the Yahoo ID you merged.
The merge process will set the combined account's password to your existing SBC password, but you can change it at any time afterwards.

None of the software is required. New user registration and existing user migration can be done without the software.
The downloadable software, available after finishing migration, includes the custom Yahoo browser with parental controls and firewall.
The current SBC Yahoo DSL CD, included in the new user installation kit, is only for new setups. Migrating users can use the downloadable software or wait until early 2003 for the migration CD, which will include the connection manager.
The current CD includes the custom Yahoo browser, the connection manager and diagnostics, parental controls, instant messenger, drivers for Dlink 530TX and Dlink DFE-680TXD (PCMCIA), EnterNet 300, IE 5.5 and 6, Winsock and DUN updates for 95, Acrobat Reader, Netscape, QuickTime, Shockwave, and Flash. If you have that CD and want to install parts of it manually, instead of letting the installer load all of it, see the CD paths.

If you have purchased a new computer with Macromedia Flash 6.x or have upgraded your existing Flash to 6.x, and you attempt to install the SBC Yahoo DSL software (Client Kit 3.1 or 2.0), the installation will fail due to being incompatible with Flash 6.x. The opening screen is gray (no buttons, text or video).
The workaround is to "downgrade" Flash to 5.x. Follow these instructions:
•Click the X in the upper right hand corner(close the window) •A window pops up warning that you selected exit and the installation will not be properly setup. Click EXIT. •Open "Windows Explorer". •Navigate to the CD-Rom drive and go to the SETUP\Flash folder. •Click on the file flash.exe. •A window will pop up and ask if you want to install Flash 5 Active X control. Select Yes and after the Installation is complete select ok at the prompt.
You should be able to run the SBC Yahoo DSL CD with no problems after this.
SBC is aware of this problem and is already working on updating ad distributing new CDs.

If you attempted to install the SBC Yahoo CD, AND IT FAILED, could you all do me a favor.
Please do a search on your computer and look for this file-- report.xml .
If it exists please do this:
1) Copy the file and attach it to an e-mail to bbrsupport@sbcglobal.net
2) In the body of the e-mail please include:
A) Computer specifications detailing: - CPU - Total RAM - Hard drive size and amount of space available - CD/DVD/CD-R/CD-RW type and speed B) Operating system C) What step the installation failed D) What steps were taken to get the computer to reboot if needed. E) Your DSL phone number F) BBR logon name
SBC is aware of this problem and we are taking steps to correct it. This information would be greatly appreciated and help us to identify and resolve this issue.

Non-XP Uninstalls Follow these steps in order. Click cancel on any reboot requirements as necessary. Note: This completely removes the installed software including that required to connect on a non-WindowsXP system (Enternet300). If you have a non-XP system and still want to connect via this computer (no router) then you need to leave Enternet300 of another PPPoE client on the system.
Remove these programs in any order: SBC Yahoo! Internet Mail SBC Yahoo! Messenger SBC Yahoo! Parental Controls Yahoo! Companion Yahoo! Login Yahoo! Messenger Explorer Bar Remove SBC Yahoo! Dial (remove only) Remove SBC Yahoo! DSL Utilities Remove SBC Yahoo! DSL Remove SBC Connection Manager (This step should also uninstall the BroadJump CorrectConnect Engine. Give it a bit then hit F5 to refresh this window to ensure it goes away.) Remove EnterNet 300. (A reboot will be required.) see note above The last step is to remove BroadJump Client foundation

For new and migrated users (you must change to these settings after migration).
If not on SBC Yahoo (existing customers pre-September 2002 who have not migrated) keep using the old settings.
Use the servers corresponding to your email address:
| Address | POP server | SMTP server |
| @sbcglobal.net | pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com | smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com |
| @swbell.net | pop.swbell.yahoo.com | smtp.swbell.yahoo.com |
| @pacbell.net | pop.pacbell.yahoo.com | smtp.pacbell.yahoo.com |
| @nvbell.net | pop.nvbell.yahoo.com | smtp.nvbell.yahoo.com |
| @snet.net | pop.snet.yahoo.com | smtp.snet.yahoo.com |
| @ameritech.net | pop.ameritech.yahoo.com | smtp.ameritech.yahoo.com |
| @prodigy.net | pop.prodigy.yahoo.com | smtp.prodigy.yahoo.com |
| @wans.net | pop.wans.yahoo.com | smtp.wans.yahoo.com |
| @flash.net | pop.flash.yahoo.com | smtp.flash.yahoo.com |
User ID requires domain (for both SMTP and POP) - that means use your full address name@domain.net for POP user ID. If using Netscape, use name%domain.net instead.
Outgoing mail with these servers requires SMTP authentication.
For more detailed instructions on all of the above, see: http://support.sbcglobal.net/email/

The answer to this depends a lot on what you want on your computer. The basic software needed is Enternet300 and can be found at X\Setup\Efficient\reboot , where X is your CD drive letter.
If you're going to install anything else you can go to the following:
Internet Explorer 5.5-
X\Setup\IE55\EN and double-click on ie5setup.exe to begin, follow the prompts and reboot as required.
Yahoo Components-
o Yahoo! Browser - X\Setup\Yahoo and double-click on ybrowser_setup.exe (Don't reboot) o Parental Controls - X\Setup\Yahoo and double-click on yfamily_setup.exe (Don't reboot) o Yahoo! Messenger - X\Setup\Yahoo and double-click on ymsgr_sbcd.exe (Don't reboot) o DLL Update - X\Setup\Yahoo and double-click on dllupdate.exe (Don't reboot) o Connection Manager - X\Setup\Yahoo\CM and double-click on setup.exe (Don't reboot) o Yahoo! Essentials - X\Setup\Yahoo and double-click on sbcyess.exe (Don't reboot)
Reboot the computer once all the needed Yahoo components are installed.

There are a lot of people having trouble sending email after the migration. Just to let everyone know you do not HAVE to use the Yahoo SMTP server for now. If you do make SURE that you have your outgoing mail server requires authentication and include your full email address in the account name. If this doesn't work you can still use the old smtp mail servers.
mail.sbcglobal.net smtp.sbcglobal.net mail.pabell.net mail.swbell.net smtp.wans.net smtp.flash.net
If you still can't send or receive email please start a thread in the corresponding SBC forum.

Yahoo mail spam, you can opt-out...Here's how...Go to your Yahoo Web base mail account...
Yahoo has this opt-out page...Go to mail ->Mail Options -> Account Information (on left) -> it will ask for your password ->Member Information (link on bottom) Click here to edit your marketing preferences. -> Make sure you check 'NO' in all... If I remember right when you merged you should/could have done this...If not, do it now...Hope this helps...

Disposable email addresses are SBC/Yahoo!'s answer to spam. They have the same functionality as an alias. Basically each account (primary and sub) get up to 500 DEA (disposable email addresses). You can go to your mail options tab for whichever account you wish to have a DEA on and set it up. You can add up to 500 DEAs and delete them as necessary. This is primarily for people who like to register at new sites but do not wish to give out her their actual email address.

Sometimes the Yahoo! spam filter thinks that legitimate e-mail is spam and puts it in the bulk mail folder. Here are the steps you should take to resolve this.
1. At the top of the mail click on the "Not Spam" button. 2. Near the top-right click on Mail Options. 3. Under the Spam column click on Filters. 4. Click the Add button to add a new filter. 5. In "Filter Name" give the filter a name (usually just the person's e-mail address.) 6. In "From header:" type in the valid e-mail address. 7. In "Move the message to:" select Inbox.
Now all of the e-mail from that person will go directly to the Inbox. Your account can contain up to 15 filters at one time.
