Mother nature decided to play a cruel trick on me. Yesterday afternoon my house got hit by lightning. The house is fine, but several electronics got fried. Among them is my glorious dial up modem, the sole internet connection in the house.
So I'll be crunching along on stored WUs until tomorrow night when I run out of cache. Then I have to wait until I can get ahold of a new modem.

I just need a plain old PCI modem. They're not hard to find, it's just that I spent my computer upgrade fund and have to wait. I may be able to get one from my brother-in-law though. I think I put one in his system when I built it, and he's on cable.
The nice thing is that the laptop is finally working online. So it's continuing to crunch. I can't seem to get it to share the connection with the rest of the network though. Hopefully I can get ICS working before I run out of WUs.
Stupid lightning.

The modem Gary sent me just got it. Quickest installation ever! The old modem I had was nearly identical. They're so close in fact, that the existing driver and software work the new one.
