He has not been around for quite some time... hopefully all is OK. It is very unusual for DSLDUDE See Profile's blades to be down for very long.

I couldn't find a DSLDUDE in the phone book.

At one time I thought Ops needed to give contact info to the FP board (at least the President). I don't know if that happened with all of you or if it did and didn't get passed on to future presidents?

Of course, I may have dreamed it, but it seems like a good idea given the trust the group places in an Op.

Mike is not very talkative, but would read my IMs in the past. I just figured he personifies lurking. But this is a really long absence. I am more concerned for his well being than the blades.

At least the blades that have failed to report for almost 51 days ... (August 24) have contributed above and beyond.

Wow, I never knew how Foldy8 became to be!

And that makes these AMD2000 blades about 4 years old!

I would have no hard feelings if Mike wishes to retire them.

I may not have any hard feelings either, but perhaps they could be a little on the bruised side.

Now, onto my soapbox, with the following not directed at anyone in particular, but rather my view on this and past similar occurrences:

No matter what, the hard-earned money of many selfless individuals was invested in the trust of this person, who has now disappeared off the radar screen. It is likely that the members of FP could have decided that yes, the blades were old and had served the Team well over the years and they could be retired in-place. However, we should have at least had the opportunity to make such a decision.

Goodwill aside, I am always somewhat taken back when I see a response to a situation such as this that is a bit on the defeatist side, with a willingness to simply give away what others have worked hard for without question.

The FP members *deserve* that question, and we need to find a way to ensure the ability to *ask* that question in the future. We are a caring, loving, trusting group, and for that we become complacent. Somehow I believe we deserve a little more than that. I think we need to find a way to make our current and future holders of our trust investment a little more accountable for their actions, and at the very least stress to everyone the importance of communicating with us when things may take a downward turn.

That's all I am asking for---communication, and give us the chance to decide the question. I welcome any ideas to further this notion, and look forward to making events like this a thing of the past.
